How to Help

Would you like to volunteer your time to help us with a new home for our clients? Are you trying to find a way to donate to the New River Family Shelter?

GiveBigNRV

GiveBigNRV is a website designed to encourage charitable giving in the New River Valley and to promote the dozens of nonprofit organizations serving our region. Started in 2014 in celebration of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley’s (CFNRV) 20th anniversary, the website allows donors to give easily and securely online to their favorite nonprofit organization or to any of the CFNRV’s endowed funds. The site is powered by Click & Pledge, an internationally-known software company based in Blacksburg.

About

New River Family Shelter (NRFS) is the only scattered shelter program in the New River Valley that provides safe emergency housing to families and children. Our mission is to end homelessness in our community.

Testimonial 2

“If it was not for the roof they provided for my family, we would have been sleeping in the streets. Carol and NRFS helped us with so many things throughout our stay. I am grateful that there are places that actually care about people. My family had a warm bed to sleep in, and I didn’t have to worry as much as I did before we were placed in the shelter. I want to thank everyone for all of their help.”
